Apply all your assumptions to the city of Detroit... considering factors such as the demographic layout of total population, business ownership demographics, ruling political party, political leadership demographics, and law enforcement demographics (from upper command to patrolman)... eighty-three percent of the city of nearly 700,000 is Black... sixty-four percent of the business are owned by Blacks... fifty percent of the business are owned by women... five out of the last six mayors of Detroit were Black; ironically the current mayor is White. All of the mayors have been Democratic... Sixty-three percent of Detroits law enforcement is Black and most of its upper command is Black... So after 40 years of Democratic rule, 39 years of Black mayors and after decades of racial hegemony for Blacks which is reflected in business and law enforcement, why are they the nations leader in homicide (one of the most dangerous cities to live in) and the largest city to file for bankruptcy by population in US history, GM is headquartered in Detroit ... and there is the benefit of nearby Chrysler as well... So many reasons are cited for the failure of other areas and yet those reasons do not exist in as heavy a portion, if at all, in Detroit... Why does Detroit struggle to create goods and services at the grass root level that are of value to themselves and to others? Where is the inventiveness and innovation that built Detroit to begin with?
