Appreciate everyones calls and kind messages, so just to update everyone at once: Mom went into cardiac arrest this afternoon, likely caused by infection; but being that shes in a hospital, everyone reacted quickly to get her stabilized, which kept her from what could have been a lot more damage. She was taken to Riverside and is undergoing therapeutic hypothermia--basically theyre going to freeze Moms brain to induce hibernation, which will minimize tissue damage from lack of blood flow. Shell be lifted out of that slowly starting tomorrow evening. Shes breathing on her own, there are no signs of brain damage, and she has a good nurse assigned only to her. Apparently her doctor is also excellent. Thats all we know for right now. Thanks again for your messages. Im hopping off communications for a bit because I just wrote the phrase theyre going to freeze Moms brain and things like that arent processed without some gin.
