Appreciated the presentation by 王力宏 Wang Leehom at Oxford University. He talked about deficit in the culture exchage between the east and the west. And some words of his speech were very insightful to me. Leehoms Call to Action is to build and protect that roommate relationship between the east and the west. Value it, take ownership of it. Dont just hang out with Chinese students (when studying abroad). You can do it back in where you are from. Dont buy from the headlines or stereotype or hyper nationalism.(Yeah, I am Chinese but I dont know Kung Fu.) Think for yourself and this goes for both the east and the west. Dont believe in the hype.Think this way: with our own pool of critical thinking, can we build relationship that actually see each other as individual human beings and not face with members of a particular ethnicity or nationality. Of course we can do that and thats the goal and dream!
