Appropos Sadananda Gowdas son - Devendra. I might be out of touch, but I cannot understand how a woman who lives with a man for some length of time can accuse him of rape as soon as he wants to get married to someone else? Does sleeping together imply a contract? And if marriage does not follow when does it become deemed as by false pretense? Men and women who are in relationship often fall out and break up. Cant we leave it at that? To my mind rape implies a lack of consent, with or without the use of force. Or are we going to give life to the widely believed wisdom that hell hath no fury as a woman scorned.* And isnt it a travesty of justice when the man has no similar right to charge a woman with rape when she decides to walk out of the relationship? *(An abbreviated yet famous line coined by William Congreve (1670-1729),an English playwright and poet. The entire quote reads Heaven has no rage like love to hatred turned, Nor hell a fury like a woman scorned, spoken by Perez in Act 3, Scene 2, The Mourning Bride (1697). )
