April 1, 1986. Remembering my dad, who died just before Easter in 1986, and could not be buried until after Easter because of a Catholic Church practice. We held his Vigil at a funeral home on Monday, March 31, 1986, followed by a Funeral Mass at the small chapel at the Veterans Grounds in Woods, WI, followed by a military funeral service on the cemetery grounds. April 1, 1986 was much like today: COLD, WET, WINDY. The soldiers who gave the military gun salute had problems with their rifles, which at first, would not fire. My Dad was a HUGE jokester with a wicked sense of humor. All fit; a perfect April Fool sort of day. My dad and mom, who were both huge Braves and Brewer fans, are buried at the WOODS Cemetery, on a hillside that once overlooked the old Milwaukee County Stadium! Neat! THEY would have loved this. Remembering my dad, and remembering, too, our very special times together. RIP dad. Peace, Jackie
