April 19, 1956…Six hundred guests at Monacos St. Nicholas Cathedral witnessed the religious wedding ceremony of Grace Kelly and Prince Rainier, a day after their marriage in a civil ceremony. Guests included Cary Grant, Aga Khan, David Niven, Gloria Swanson, Aristotle Onassis, Ava Gardner, heads of state, and diplomats. It was called the wedding of the century by the press, watched on television by an estimated 30 million people. The couple remained together until her road accident death in 1982.
