Archaeology Program on the Big Eddy Site near Stockton Lake, Sunday, October 19, 2 P.M. The Big Eddy Site: An Early Man Site near Stockton Lake Archaeologist Jack Ray will present a program on the Big Eddy Archaeological Site, Sunday, October 19, at 2 P.M. Recognized as one of the most important and interesting sites in North America, Big Eddy is best known for its deep deposits and artifacts from the Paleo-Indian Period and the discovery of artifacts at a deeper and older level that pre-date the Clovis Period by hundreds of years. Jack Ray was the field director for six field seasons of excavation at Big Eddy. The Big Eddy Site has been featured in past National Geographic Magazine articles as well as other publications. The program location will be at the University of Missouri Extension Center in Hermitage, located one block west of the southwest corner of the Courthouse Square. The program is free and open to the public. Free refreshments, the new 2014 Archaeology Month Posters, and a chance to win door prizes will be available for all attending.
