Are Indian political parties lagging behind in Political - TopicsExpress

Are Indian political parties lagging behind in Political Marketing? In the recent times we are very much apprised of the fact that how all the political parties are involved in the mug slinging game. Every political party is trying to demean the opponent party by pointing fingers at them and broaching the topic of what the other parties have not done or what wrongdoings they have been involved into. Congress’ recent fad is to show that how BJP has wrongly interpreted about Congress’ service to the people in the health care segment. On the other hand, BJP is trying to showcase that Sonia Gandhi since, she is an Italian by birth should not lead our nation. Of late, there were serial blasts in Patna during Narendra Modi’s electoral campaign in Patna. BJP made a hue and cry over Modi’s security issues, that he is not been given adequate securities by the government and Nitish Kumar’s government in Bihar is not able to hamstring terrorism. Every political party is but forging ahead with one goal, that is simply hogging the limelight without any proper marketing strategies. The first and foremost thing that the political parties should avoid is anti campaign. When it is campaigning against the other parties, it is actually highlighting the other party more than itself. It should focus more on its strengths and benefits that it can provide to the potential voters who would vote for them. These people (voters) actually are like the customers who are mainly interested in their own benefits if they vote for a particular party. For example, if you all have followed the first presidential elections of Barrack Obama meticulously, one would have noticed that how he only focused on his own strengths and the benefits he would provide to the American citizens. On the other hand, Hillary Clinton who was from the opponent party had put all sorts of allegations upon Barrack Obama but did not point out what benefits the Americans would be receiving if they had voted for them. This anti campaign strategy of the opponent tem worked in favour of Barrack Obama and he finally grabbed the most coveted powerful post of the president of USA. The party’s strategies should be more of people (voter) oriented and should focus on customer (voters) satisfaction. There are various categories of voters present in the population. There are loyalists, switchers, apathetic and doubters. Loyalists are very difficult to convert but with proper strategies they can as well be converted. Switchers can be pursued easily. Apathetics have to be shown that they are receiving much higher in return of their votes. Doubters are skeptical about every party present so they have to be appealed with proper and meticulous plans and ideas. It is high time that all the political parties should come out of its shell of complacency and put an end to the blame game which is so much ubiquitous these days. They should concentrate more on doing good for the people from whom they are expecting the votes. People should gain something from the work done by the party for them, then only they will develop and sustain faith in the political system. The political system of India needs to change and shed off complacency and strategize properly to communicate their party’s values and visions well to the people. Marketing strategies have permeated into the political scenario in the western world much more than that in Indian society.
