Are We Zimbabweans Ready For Spring? #JustAsking! Rejoice Ngwenya - TopicsExpress

Are We Zimbabweans Ready For Spring? #JustAsking! Rejoice Ngwenya is Jus Passin By Harare, Monday, 6 October 2014 The whole of last week, I spent my time salivating about how great it is to be a citizen of Hong Kong. For obvious reason. As a democratic activist living in the cold shadows of a cruel, selfish, fraudulent, deceptive, dicey, unrepentant, corrupt, lawless, plunderous and murderous authoritarian dictatorship, I feel invigorated whenever I read of a pro-democracy popular mass uprising anywhere of this planet. The aBantu and uZulu of Hong Kong are sick and tired of the Chinese-imposed puppet dictatorship of both Chief Executive C.Y. Leung and his Chief Secretary Carrie Lam. They want real democracy, so they have embarked on an Umbrella Revolution, their version of the Chinese Spring unlike us Zimbabweans, idiotic as ever, willing to tolerate anything thrown at us. We will die trying and poor! Only a few weeks ago, the ZANU-PF government tried to frog-march us into paying off Dr. Gideon Gono’s US$2 billion Robert Mugabe 2000 – 2013 electoral campaign debt. The very same government responsible for 20 000 deaths in Matabeleland, destruction of commercial farming, environmental degradation, one trillion percent inflation, 99.9% unemployment, three million Zimbabweans in exile and a host of other profanities – claims to have ‘won’ presidential and parliamentary elections last year. And they are still in power! To add salt to injury, they still claim each and every misfortune that befalls Zimbabwe is ‘caused by the illegal Western sanctions’. Do they take us for fools? Moreover, they had promised that our diamonds would trigger a ‘massive economic boom’. Now that Chinese and Russians have signed personal ‘mega deals’ with Mr. Mugabe, we are told our lives will never be the same! And they are still very comfortable in power! Only one year after an election, ZANU-PF is on the 2018 campaign trail, completely oblivious of that they have yet to fulfill a morsel of electoral promises they made in their manifesto; other than a fallacious, frivolous, deceptive economic blue print called Zimbabwe Agenda for Sustainable Socio-economic Transformation (ZIMASSET). As you read this, you may have lost electrical (electoral?) power I don’t how many times in your Zimbabwean home, office or business. You probably drive or ride to work over potholes THIS big and see thousands upon thousands of unemployed graduates roaming the streets; or thousands of vendors selling Chinese trinkets from crowded pavements. To cap it all, you may have heard that the University of Zimbabwe is the only institution of higher learning in the world that cannot spell the phrase ‘Honorary Doctorate’! Please can you answer this question: what on this blooming earth will get a miserable, poor, abused, discarded, frustrated, stressed, hopeless Zimbabwean to say “Enough is enough. Let me get off my a** and make change happen.” I know. We are resilient, peaceful, patient, understanding, considerate, literate, tolerant and ALL that. The bad news is we will die trying …. and poor. Take me to Hong Kong!
