Are synthetic clothes made of ocean plastic really the plastic - TopicsExpress

Are synthetic clothes made of ocean plastic really the plastic pollution solution they are marketed as? We use to think so, but soon changed our mind when we read about microfibre pollution from clothes. (Dr Mark Browne) Now new research is highlighting the problems with synthetic microfibre pollution. Although initially seeming a wonderful idea and well intended, plastic bottle to textile projects may actually cause more damage than they prevent. Companies and organizations must consider the new evidence and stop promoting them as eco solutions. Recycled plastics should be limited to non polluting applications and designs. Please support organic hemp and recycled cotton textiles for our oceans, avoid synthetics until industry develops non shedding textiles, and let your favorite brands know you want genuine solutions and continual improvement.
