Are the Officials the Main Event. Can you imagine having the officials brought out, announcing them one at a time at a Football, Baseball or Basketball game. The Order of Importance #1 Athletes #2 Instructors #3 Coaches #4 Officials Officials administer and judge to insure the proper outcome of an event. They never become the event. #1 the competitor is why we exist. #2 the instructor develops and guides the competitor toward becoming good enough to compete at a Regional or National level. The Instructor spends years at his craft to bring a great product to an event. The real Super-Star is the person that molds and creates the person standing in the ring. #3 coaches dont have enough time to have much effect on the Athlete. Coaches are needed on trips to make sure the team is controlled and follow proper training to prepare. #4 officials service events. My opinion the Instructors have always been given little respect The Instructor is the backbone of the competitive athletes in the program. Many people take great potential athletes to the Open-Karate circuit because they are given respect, and we lose a potential Super-Star. If I call upon the Older Instructor out there they still remember the early Tournaments were rough and pretty fair. The people judging were also fighters and tried to do it right, and most times it was good. I always like when the center Referee was a fighter; they know what is like when a theres bad call. Going home feeling good, all was right, win or lose. I can remember on the way home students taking how they got their ass kicked and loved the fight. More to come on this subject. Much More.
