Are times so much different now? My father was a Pastor of a Church. When they Celebrated the Pastors Anniversary it Consisted of a nice, clean love seat, some artificial flowers,A Pitcher of water,Koolaid or Iced Tea.Dinner for everybody.A love offering and if anyone had a special offering,it was accepted.Daddy didnt get a weekly, monthly salary.Dad wasnt only the Pastor but a part of the Transportation Dept. if someone needed a ride.He was part of the Missionary Dept,Benevolence Dept.because he made sure People had assistance with their utility bills and food.He didnt have to worry about a decent car because he owned his own (Coles Body Shop)Where he could take any kind of car and fix it and make it look like new money. He was a hard worker.Yes,he had a job! When we would visit other churches,he always gave his love offering back to that Church. They didnt worry about finances and the Church was growing Tremendously. He visit the sick and Prayed with many known and unknown people.I always say to this very day,A giving Church is a blessed Church.Zion Baptist Church was a Blessed Church. No disrespect to any Pastor or Minister, but why today do a Pastor think he cant wash a window, sweep a floor, cut the grass etc.I play piano, sing but if I was asked to clean the bathroom at Church.I would gladly do it.Not suggesting that anything is wrong with compensating the Man of God,staff, etc. but who still believes that serving the Lord will pay off and the Lord will supply all of your needs according to his riches in Glory.Do we still believe that?!!!Have we gotten greedy and want others to do our ministry, witnessing? When we are obedient to Gods word everything is covered. You wont have to sell dinners to keep the Church doors open, pay bills.Gods word Give all of us specific instructions.Trust and Obey!!!
