Are we now like Nigeria where you have to reach your pocket to get - TopicsExpress

Are we now like Nigeria where you have to reach your pocket to get anything done? You see, we used to go to Nigeria and every time we went there, we had to carry extra cash in our pockets to corruptly pay for everything. You get into a plane in Nigeria and you sit there and the crew keeps dilly dallying without taking off as they want you to pay them to fly the plane. A hefty piece of his mind (the quoted text above) during his birthday luncheon last week, President Mugabe of Zimbabwe gave. Zimbabwe! A few African leaders used to vent their frustrations on Nigerias mediocre achievements behind closed doors, until now. Nigerias reputation is nosediving everyday. Africans know us well for who we are. So too do many other world leaders even if they humour us with sympathetic words. I recently watched in horror and anger at the inhumane treatment of a Nigerian by the South African police. Such irresponsible conduct could occur because the police community in that country understands that our government could care less about its citizens. How would the government even care when Papal blessings had not be sought as if faith without works isnt dead on arrival! The South African police could be stupid and reckless but IT KNOWS NOT TO MESS WITH AN AMERICAN CITIZEN FOR ANY REASON. Never. Nigeria, hope for the future like this is gloomy. If we were headed in the right direction, why would we need a national conference to remake the countrys template? February 2015 is that opportunity to shaping the chart for Nigerias destiny, and for the future. A national conference may be underway and a new constitution in the works, but the country is proceeding blithely towards catastrophe with its troubles over kerosene subsidy rip-off, fuel subsidy financial magic, rape epidemic, political violence, religious conflicts, pensions heists, unemployment multiplied effect pillage, Terror among others. Unfortunately, there is still no plan or deep thinking to fashion a way out of these symptoms of grave societal decline. Indeed, Nigeria is in far worse trouble than we think. Therefore, there is a far more urgent need to vote a thinking government into office or Nigeria perish. Its better to live a life documented in the main text of a book than to be a footnote on the fringes. The destiny of Nigeria is firmly in your hands. Dont worry if your votes do not count at the end. Nature would always fight injustice and very brutally.
