Are you a New Zealander who visited Australia before 1 September - TopicsExpress

Are you a New Zealander who visited Australia before 1 September 1994? You are likely eligible for a Resident Return Visa (RRV). This is a class of permanent visa and would make you eligible for citizenship and a range of government services denied to Special Category Visa holders. It does not matter whether you visited Australia for one day or lived here for decades. Equally, it does not matter how long ago you came to Australia - it could have been in 1993 or 1953. As long as you arrived in Australia for any purpose before 1 September 1994, you should be eligible for this visa on the basis that Australia considered you a permanent resident during the time you were here. It costs $345 to apply for an RRV. This is much less than for other classes of permanent visa. - Tim
