Are you a owner of a Pharmacy? A director of a pharmacy business? A pharmacy manager? Quite a few Pharmacists I know have decided to take boycotting Israeli products to another level inshaAllah.. One of the major generic medicines manufacturers in the world and therefore exporters is an Israeli company called TEVA. Globally, TEVA is the worlds leading generic drug maker, with a range of more than 1,000 molecules, with a presence in around 60 countries. TEVA currently employs approximately 45,000 people around the world and reached $20.3 billion in net revenues in 2013. TEVA supply more packs of medicine to the NHS each year than anyone else – thats around 15% of total packs of medicine in the UK. Millions of patients use their medicines. They estimate that, on average, every second of every day, over 250 tablets or capsules supplied by them are taken by patients all around the UK. So imagine if we started a UK wide boycott? It would soon catch on around the world too. I know we can make it happen inshaAllah. This can MASSIVELY EFFECT THE ISRAELI ECONOMY !! HOW?? Firstly, we need to raise awareness within the pharmacy community. Many pharmacy businesses dont know who TEVA really are and where these profits are being sent. Some are also unaware of the brutal aparteid regime of Israel. Secondly: 1) We put together a well written letter that is countersigned by some major multiple pharmacy chains and independents and send it to the likes of the major UK medicines wholesalers such as AAH, Alliance, DE, Ethigen, Cavendish, Mawdsleys, Lexon, Trident etc to educate them about Israeli state terrorism and how we wont be buying any TEVA products from them. This will inshaAllah put pressure on these wholesalers from buying TEVA products. 2) Get as many multiples and independent pharamacies to stop stocking TEVA products. To specifically inform the wholesalers of this choice. If the pharmacies are sent TEVA products by the wholesalers, arrange a return of these products back to the wholesaler with a copy of the original letter. What do you think?
