Are you an overachiever or underachiever? If you are constantly - TopicsExpress

Are you an overachiever or underachiever? If you are constantly working too many hours and your family is suffering greatly because of it, and your spiritual health is anemic because of it, then this devotion is for you. Ecclesiastes chapter four says And I saw that all toil and all achievement spring from one person’s envy of another. This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind. Many overachievers are in a rat race to keep up with the Jones next door. Bigger houses, nicer cars, better toys. We live in a capitalistic system which is certainly better than socialism and much more biblical but....God wants us to overachieve because we are working unto the Lord and not to beat somebody else. There is a big difference! Which are you? I believe the Bible supports compassionate capitalism where the government does not distribute wealth to even the playing field but rather, the individual gets right with God and does not allow envy and coveting to drive them into the dark sorrows of riches without God or regard for others needs. You can have all the money in the world with no meaning in life. What a sad place to be. Competition is good, but Proverbs teaches envy will rot the bones.
