Are you arriving on Tuesday for the conference? Why not get started early with building your knowledge by attending our fantastic community event with: An Update on Pioneering Oncology Social Work Research Presented by Faculty from the University of Maryland, School of Social Work. Topics will include palliative care, financial burden of treatment for patients and families as well as a qualitative study regarding breast cancer patients and their families. This will be followed by an extraordinary presentation : The War on Cancer: The Affordable Care Act, Congressional Bills Affecting Oncology Social Workers & Sequestrations Impact on Cancer Care Matt Farber, Director of Provider Economics and Public Policy at the Association of Community Cancer Centers. Matt will be updating us on the affordable care act, potential bills that may pass congress this year that will affect oncology social work including oral parity and chemotherapy teaching, and talk about the impacts of sequestration on oncology care. The community event is from 5-630 pm on Tuesday May 27th and is open to the public! So even if you aren’t attending our annual meeting and would like to learn about exciting work in oncology social work and public policy, plan to join us!
