Are you attending the 2014 Essence Music Festival, then this is for you: In 2013, the Louisiana State Legislature passed Act 410 establishing an assessment of 1.75% on the daily hotel room rate, applied the same as and in conjunction with sales tax. The assessment is mandatory and is not applicable to incidental charges. These funds are used to manage New Orleans’ large tourism industry and is the first-ever dedicated funding stream for infrastructure and public safety improvements to the historic French Quarter. Effective, April 1, 2014, the Tourism Support Assessment of 1.75% on the daily hotel room rate will be applied to your guest folio.
