Are you aware that God moves in seasons of your life. What is - TopicsExpress

Are you aware that God moves in seasons of your life. What is often true in the natural realm is true in the spiritual realm. If we don’t stay sensitive to the Holy Spirit, we will get out of sync with the spiritual season we are in. The book of Ephesians can be broken down into 3 stages; sit, walk, stand. Chapters 1-3 (sit), chapters 4-5 (walk), chapter 6 (stand). There was a recent time when I was in a real struggle spiritually. It went on for years. My circumstances were awful and I felt the walls closing in on me as every thing that I tried would not work. I was in spiritual quicksand, the more I struggled the deeper I sank. In my Psalm-like prayers I was crying out to God to change my circumstances; to deliver me from my enemies. When I was at the bottom, the Holy Spirit told me to “stand”. I thought “stand, I can’t even sit up straight”! The truth was I was stuck trying to force a season of walking and sitting but I was supposed to be in a season of standing. It was this circumstance and word that taught me how to become effective in spiritual war. Over a period of time as I learned to war well my circumstances started to change. They eventually changed so dramatically that my life, in this area, is completely different today and I now know how to effectively engage the enemy. I think it is critical to know what season we are in or we will not understand why God doesn’t seem to be engaged in our lives in any significant way. According to the book of Hebrews it is actually possible to train our senses. That means on the deep spiritual level where our senses reside we are able to detect the atmospheres we are living in spiritually and how the Holy Spirit wants us to respond. Hebrews 5:14 But solid food is for the mature, who because of practice have their senses trained to discern good and evil. Elijah got some spiritual ninja training standing at the mouth of a cave after he had gotten so frustrated with his circumstances and God that he had fled a great distance and was ready to throw in the towel. God spoke to him there. Elijah was not discerning the correct season he was in. He was looking for God in the dramatic but God was whispering in the gentle blowing to force Elijah to lean in and develop sensitivity to hear Him and know what he was supposed to be doing. 1 Kings 19: 11 So He said, “Go forth and stand on the mountain before the Lord.” And behold, the Lord was passing by! And a great and strong wind was rending the mountains and breaking in pieces the rocks before the Lord; but the Lord was not in the wind. And after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. 12 After the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire; and after the fire a sound of a gentle blowing. 13 When Elijah heard it, he wrapped his face in his mantle and went out and stood in the entrance of the cave. And behold, a voice came to him and said, “What are you doing here, Elijah?” Elijah had gotten out of sync with the season he was in and God first asked him a question and then gave him a command to get him back in the game. If we are walking when we should be standing, we will be out of step with God and it will seem like He is oblivious to our circumstances. Solomon words it well in this famous passage in Ecclesiastes. Ecclesiastes 3:1 There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every event under heaven— 2 A time to give birth and a time to die; A time to plant and a time to uproot what is planted. 3 A time to kill and a time to heal; A time to tear down and a time to build up. 4 A time to weep and a time to laugh; A time to mourn and a time to dance. 5 A time to throw stones and a time to gather stones; A time to embrace and a time to shun embracing. 6 A time to search and a time to give up as lost; A time to keep and a time to throw away. 7 A time to tear apart and a time to sew together; A time to be silent and a time to speak. 8 A time to love and a time to hate; A time for war and a time for peace.
