Are you experiencing disappointments? Discouraged? Are you - TopicsExpress

Are you experiencing disappointments? Discouraged? Are you feeling like a failure because of something in your past? Have you lost a race, failed a test, been turned down for a promotion, or just emerged from a broken relationship? If you have answered yes to any of these questions, then God is speaking to you to move forward, no longer focusing on the past and its failures. We must look ahead and continue striving to do our best. “Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:13-14. Friends, we can’t change the past. It’s done. Once a sports event is over, it’s over. One team wins, one team loses. If we experience a loss or a broken heart, we must continue moving forward with God, step by step. We can’t allow the past to affect our future. Just because we failed in the past, doesn’t mean we must fail in the future. If we will allow God to teach us valued lessons that derive from our failures and disappointments, we will gain strength AND wisdom. It’s okay to be disappointed or hurt over a loss or broken heart. We shouldn’t feel guilty for our emotions. The key is NOT to stay down when we are knocked down! We must pray, seek God with our whole heart, and continue moving forward with His leading. When we allow God to place us on the Potter’s wheel, our lives will continuously be molded and developed into the image of Jesus. “Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus…” Philippians 2:5. Attitude? Yes, my friends, the attitude of Jesus is one of love. He loved everyone, even his enemies. He walked in peace, joy, AND love (God is love). He forgave those that despised him and plotted his death. He set an example of love for us to follow. Walking with God is a journey. There will be days we will experience sunshine and days we experience storms. “….being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” Philippians 1: 6. Our confidence is knowing that God has a specific plan for us. Let’s rejoice in knowing that He loves us! It’s a new day!
