By the end of the course, students will have built their own interactive web maps that will be published on the internet. **Web Map Quick Start with Lyzi Diamond & Stephanie May- starts October 14th** Tired of publishing PDF maps on the web? Come learn the fundamentals of how to translate your map into a web map. This course is intended for students, nonprofits, and government agencies interested in incorporating web maps into their work. By the end of the course you should know how to make a simple web map, plus understand web mapping in broad terms, and have enough information to hire a developer, write a grant, or know where to start with your own learning objectives when your goal is to create and sustain a larger project. **Mobile Data Collection with Nancy Milholland** Sure, there’s plenty of geographic data available online, but have you ever wanted to create your own? Do you wonder what your smart phone or tablet can do to collect geographic information and get it onto a map? How accurate is your phone in terms of determining location? This workshop explores mobile data collection with smart phones and tablets as well as publishing collected data. Basic GIS and GPS concepts are covered. Students will learn about data models, data formats, mobile software applications and mobile hardware. Through lab exercises and an optional field trip, students will learn and execute workflows for data collection and publishing. They will gain first hand experience in data collection challenges and solving problems creatively. We will learn to publish map data and geotagged photos using ArcGIS Online, Story Maps, and other platforms.
