“Are you still rolling with God on the daily?” I asked my - TopicsExpress

“Are you still rolling with God on the daily?” I asked my friend who sent me an email a few weeks ago where she shared the following: “Today I decided to recommit to Him. And to once again be lost in Him that nothing else matters. I want to be at the center of His will all the time. Rolling with Him on the regular.” Turns out that recommitment only lasted for a few days! Her complaints were: 1. Its boring and uninteresting (reading the Bible that is). 2. Life gets overwhelming. 3. It feels like a chore. Wow! Thanks, my love for being so honest! Here’s my take on all of that: 1. I rarely read the Bible myself! During my alone time with God, I instead read a book I love and just one minute is enough sometimes for me to feel like I’ve made contact with God! It’s the quality of time, not the quantity! On days I’m feeling stressed, this may mean a few more extra minutes! For you it may be just a moment looking at the sky or a tree, just something to refocus and remind yourself that you’re never alone! It could also be a quick prayer, “God, I’m grateful!” 2. Life gets overwhelming because you forget you have the best Helper – God!!! Whenever I get overwhelmed now, I just remind myself that I’m putting on too much of the challenge on myself, as if I’m the one who’ll solve it all alone! Take for example, parenting! If I say, “What am I going to do with this child?” and I feel everything is up to me, I get overwhelmed. But when I remember God and that I’m not raising my kids on my own and that God is my Helper, I relax! Remember-feeling overwhelmed means you’re forgetting God is your Helper, Adviser, Protector and that you handle nothing alone! Do your best and leave the rest! Just trust and relax! 3. “Honey look, Joshie is peeing! I get such a kick out of that! I’ve learned not to take anything for granted!” My hubby must’ve thought I was crazy watching my 4 year old pee this morning! Right there was another contact moment with God, in my bathroom watching my son pee! I was totally filled with joy and gratitude! I don’t need to lock myself up in a room for hours to feel close to God! I just fill more and more of my moments focused on Him and I’m living the better life… ROLLING WITH GOD ON THE REGULAR!
