Area woman killed Man arrested after hit-and-run in Payne Springs Rich Flowers The Athens Review The Athens Daily Review Mon May 20, 2013, 06:11 PM CDT Athens — A 49-year-old Mabank woman died as a result of injuries sustained when she was struck by a vehicle while walking on State Highway 198 in Payne Springs Friday night. The victim, Sandy Gay Patterson of Mabank, was pronounced dead at 11:43 p.m. at East Texas Medical Center, Gun Barrel City. The driver of the vehicle, Donal Ray Worley, also of Mabank, was booked into the Henderson County Jail for intoxication manslaughter with a motor vehicle and accident involving a death. He remained in custody on Monday with total bond set at $160,000. Intoxication manslaughter is a second- degree felony and carries a penalty upon conviction of two to 20 years in jail, and a fine not to exceed $10,000. According to Henderson County Sheriff’s Office reports, 9-1-1 received a call at 8:39 p.m. stating that a person had been struck by a vehicle on State Highway 198, a quarter-mile north of Leisureland Road in Payne Springs. Worley was southbound, driving a 2002 Lincoln LS when he allegedly struck Patterson as she walked on the edge of Highway 198.
