Argentine’s Jewish organizations decried the President Cristina - TopicsExpress

Argentine’s Jewish organizations decried the President Cristina Kirchner strong defense of the agreement signed with Iran to probe the AMIA bombings. They regarded the deal as an obstruction of the truth and this immediately sparked a new dispute between the government and the Jewish entities. The Delegation of Jewish Associations in Argentina also released a harsh statement slamming the government for supporting a cooperation mechanism with Iran, which according to them is an unreliable partner. This was in response to the clear defense of the agreement made last Wednesday by President Kirchner at the UN General Assembly The Delegation of Jewish Associations in Argentina, DAIA, went to the courts to challenge the deal and always blamed Iran for the attack despite independent investigations proved the accusations were based on biased investigations which were also eventually found groundless. Iran has repeatedly shown support for the investigation whenever required by the Argentine justice system and according to the former Iranian Foreign Ministry Ali Akbar Salehi the agreement is a key instrument between the two governments in order to find the truth about the attack The AMIA bombings, which took the lives of 85 people and injured hundreds more twenty years ago, could never be properly investigated until the deal with Iran was struck. Apart from opening the possibility for legal cooperation between the two countries, it shed light on the need for launching deep local investigations on the long-standing case.
