Arguably the best Pho I have had in my life, Ive never been to Vietnam but I grew up in Melbourne, a heavily populated Vietnamese community thrived there and Pho was the staple diet as a student. David Jacobsons wife Phuong a Vietnamese native makes this bowl of absolute heaven, seriously died and went there. You can get beef or chicken Pho, however I recommend the beef, off course! The broth is full of marrow juice, warm and cleansing like, the beef is a combination of classic stewed and flash cooked into the hot soup. An orgy of herbs and bean shoots plus the absolutely necessary condiments; black bean sauce, red chili sauce, mint, fresh chili etc which are almost impossible to get the complete package at any other Vietnamese restaurant, making this single bowl, the bowl of a lifetime, yes I loved it that much! After my 8 year search of seeking perfectly authentic Pho in Thailand Ive come home! There is even Phuongs unique Indian twist in there somewhere, see if you can spot it. Go grab some ONLY at the last Sunday of every month, but be prepared to battle for seats! x Much love and respect to Smalls.
