Arguments people sometimes make on certain issues are often based - TopicsExpress

Arguments people sometimes make on certain issues are often based on abstractions. They have no real idea or real-world experience about the effects of, say, trying to live off a minimum wage. They argue vehemently against raising the level, but to most its nothing but a conceptual idea. But analysis like the one below shatter that abstraction in providing real and hard numbers. I wish these sorts of evidence-based findings would shut the demagogues up, and they would retreat in shame for having spoken on something they dont understand. But, of course, this is naive to think. In the world we live in, facts dont matter to many people. Facts are stubborn things, but in the world we live in people feel entitled to their own set of facts in pontificating without supporting evidence.
