Aria needs encouragement and advice. She said.... For most of our home school experience (10 years w 3 boys now 14, 11, & 6) my family has cared for my mothers health needs. Eighteen months ago she became unable to live alone so we moved her in with us. We all adore her and her presence is such a blessing for my boys, who are learning to observe her needs and respond. The home school challenge is this: shes been in hospital 3x totaling 45 days just since her moving in, not to mention the past. We are now facing stage 4 breast cancer along w numerous complications residual from previous chemo and radiation. Moms days range from being bed ridden needing total support to being well enough to take herself to doctor an hour away. She also struggles with clinical depression, which is probably the most difficult for me. I work one day a week and weekend to support our home school activities. My boys are progressing but my 11 yr old is falling behind by about two grades...and plenty of other things dont get done either. I dont think sending them to school is the answer. I guess what I am asking is if anyone else is in a similar caretaker role and how you keep up...and keep starting over. I am very concerned. Thank you for your input!
