Ariana placed Fifth over-all and top female racer in the Novice Category of The Bulacan Enduro Attack enduro mountain bike race held last July 12, 2014. This is her first try at Enduro racing, which is a form of mountain bike racing where there is a greater proportion of downhill sections, which are timed, to uphill and cross country sections. This aims to test riders technical bike handling skills. Enduro differs from XC cross-country cycling racing, Arianas main discipline (which historically has more emphasis on cardiovascular fitness and less emphasis on technical ability), and pure downhill cycling racing formats, which may contain little to no climbing or cross country skills. Ariana shares her first experience on this kind of an event, It was a pure adrenaline experience for me and a whole lot of fun! Whatever I learn here will surely be of great help in my cross-country racing career. I would like to thank the organizers of this event for staging this race and greet them a job well done! And also to my fellow competitors who were all very warm and friendly, great work guys! I would also like to thank the people of Bulacan who came out to watch me race. You guys inspire me to really give my best. I would also like to thank my sponsors, especially Specialized Philippines for providing me the awesome bike that I used, the Specialized Stumpjumper FSR Elite. This bike surely made me fly down the downhill sections with a lot of confidence. And, of course, to my Coach/Dad, who practiced with me in mastering the race course several times and guide me on what to do in the race. To all of you, maraming salamat po!
