Arizona state representative, Brenda Barton, seemed to compare President Barack Obama to Adolf Hitler in a controversial Facebook post on Monday. In the post, Barton refers to the President as the, “De Fuhrer”. Fuhrer is a German word for leader that is often associated with Adolf Hitler. The representative also wrote a followup Facebook post where she states that Obama is acting as an, “Imperial President” and accuses him of caring only about an agenda rather than citizens. Although the posts have been criticized heavily by the Democratic party, Barton said, in an interview with the Arizona Capitol Times, that she stands by her words. The representative accused Obama of dictating beyond his presidential authority and went on to explain that she felt Obama was leading the United States into an imperial dictatorship. Barton expressed that she felt the nation’s current state bears a resemblance to the beginnings of Nazi Germany.
