Armchair agony aunts alert! Please can you help this reader with her quandary? Best 2 answers will be printed in DIVAs September issue. I recently got engaged and am ecstatic about the fact that Ill be married in a year from now. The problem is that my family - who have a hard time accepting that Im a lesbian at the best of times - are saying they refuse to come to my wedding and at the moment I and my partner are not talking to any of my family. Luckily my partners family are really accepting and are happy to welcome me to their side of the family which is great but I really want to try and patch things up with MY family. How can I get them to see sense and accept me as a married woman, married to the woman I love most in the world? By the way, its not as if Im a teen bride! Im 36 and Ive made my mistakes but this is the real deal. Please help!
