Armenian Folk Song - Kapuyt Manushak/ Կապույտ Մանուշակ (Blue Violet) Performed by Djivan Gasparyan, the Master of Duduk. History of the Armenian Duduk is dated to the reign of the Armenian king Tigranes II (Armenian: Տիգրան Բ), more commonly known as Tigranes the Great (Armenian: Տիգրան Մեծ Tigran Mets; Ancient Greek: Τιγράνης ὁ Μέγας Tigránes ho Mégas; Latin: Tigranes Magnus) (140 – 55 BC). Tigran the Great, reigned from 95–55 B.C. According to ethnomusicologist Dr. Jonathan McCollum, the instrument is depicted in numerous Armenian manuscripts of the Middle Ages, and is actually the only truly Armenian instrument thats survived through history, and as such is a symbol of Armenian national identity ... The most important quality of the duduk is its ability to express the language dialectic and mood of the Armenian language, which is often the most challenging quality to a duduk player. The Duduk (doo-dook; Armenian: դուդուկ, traditionally known as ծիրանափող (tsiranapogh - literally apricot pipe) is a woodwind instrument indigenous to Armenia. The Duduk is made with the wood of the Apricot tree. https://youtube/watch?v=P2lJisqnnoE
