Arnaud Belloche of the Max Planck Institute for Radio Astronomy and his colleagues used the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array to find molecules of isopropyl cyanide in interstellar space. Although the molecule is not the largest organic species discovered so far, it is the first branched molecule. That feature could be important for the origin of life, as amino acids are also branched. Post Courtesy: Physics Today
