Around 25 engineering colleges in the state, facing scrutiny from the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) for alleged violation of norms, are yet to receive approval for this years admissions. The question mark on their fate is also affecting this years engineering admission process as nearly 10,000 seats are at stake. Some colleges under the scanner include Datta Meghe College of Engineering, Airoli, and Smt Indira Gandhi College of Engineering, Koparkhairane.A Jalna college under scrutiny is owned by a family trust , the college was involved in a minor issue of not meeting the pupil-teacher ratio, and the AICTE will seek an undertaking to fulfill the requirement in six months. Shortage of faculty is a problem that persists in all colleges but we will try and meet the norms, . The confusion over engineering admissions in the state will be sorted out by next week.
