Around 8 this morning, we had Alicias blood work done at Mon - TopicsExpress

Around 8 this morning, we had Alicias blood work done at Mon Valley and waited and waited and waited for the call to come from Dr. Venkats nurse for her numbers. Around 2 Oclock we grew too impatient and finally called Mon Valley to see if we could just get the results ourselves. Tim went up and they had them ready for us as well as last weeks results for comparison. Tim called me from the parking garage and began telling me some of the numbers and, while we were talking, I got a call waiting beep and ...guess who? yep, it was Steve, Dr. Venkats nurse. Alicias numbers are stable. They are pretty much where they were last week. Her WBC was the only really critical level but that probably wont change much because of her spleen. This in many ways is good news. I need her to be in decent shape to be able to travel by car to another hospital to be evaluated for listing since she is not able to fly. We will know by Wednesday night or Thursday what transplant center we choose. The two deciding factors are whether or not Tim and I can stay with her 24/7 in the hospital room and how long the wait time is in that particular region. It is probably going to be region 10 since, overall, the wait time with a MELD score of 22 is the shortest in the country. We are definitely listing her in, at least, one other hospital besides Childrens Hospital of Pittsburgh. Wednesday is so close but yet so far! I am feeling a little frazzled from all the homework I have been doing trying to figure out the best place to go. I think I need a cup of coffee! Enjoy the rest of your Monday!
