Around the mid 18th century, one hundred thousand Khalsa Nihang men, women, and children were seeking refuge in the forests of Malwa. After the joint Mughal-Afghan operation only half survived. Charat Singh, a Buddha Dal leader, and the father of Ranjit Singh was the hero, who saved many a life. His constant riding back and forth, led him to change his horse five times. He was a sharp shooter and had five Singhs loading his amo in the operation. He sustained wounds all over his body including slashes to his face, but not once did he lose his spirit. Such were the blessings he received from the veteran Mahakals, that his son became a Sovereign.
