Arrangements for Mike Mills: August 1, 2013 Michael Steven Mills March 30, 1960 - July 21, 2013 Michael Steven Mills, 53, passed away at 8:50 p.m. Sunday, July 21, 2013, at North Woods Village Nursing Center in Kokomo, after a courageous fight against cancer. Michael was born March 30, 1960, in Kokomo, to Harvey O. Mills, Burlington, and Anne K. (Nichols) Mills-Morgan, Kokomo. Mike attended Carroll High School in Flora, and then went into the U.S. Army. He worked as a chef for 20 years and also worked at Kokomo Cover & Trim as a laborer. He was an avid fisherman and loved the outdoors, traveling and reading. Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, Love leaves a memory no one can steal. Mike is survived by his parents; two daughters, Alex and Ana Rose Mills, Logansport; one sister, Susan A. (Jim) Caldwell, South Bend; three brothers, Richard B. Mills, South Bend, Harvey D. (Janet) Mills, South Bend, and Patrick O. (Bambi) Mills, Rossville; and numerous nieces and nephews. Michael was preceded in death by his stepfather, William Morgan. A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at New Beginnings Christian Fellowship Church in Kokomo, with Pastor Jeff Russell officiating. Friends may call at the church two hours prior to service, from 2 to 4 p.m. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Guardian Angel Hospice, 513 W. Lincoln Road, Kokomo, IN 46902. The Harley & Sons “Southwest Chapel” Funeral Home, located at West Ireland Road/Ind. 23, South Bend, handled arrangements and extends its deepest sympathy and heartfelt prayers to the Mills family.
