Arsenal bid accepted for David Ospina. Arsenal are close to completing the signing of Colombian goalkeeper David Ospina after the club agreed a £3.2 million fee with Ligue 1 outfit Nice for the players services. Citing reports from press, it appears that the deal will go through in the coming days, as Gunners chief Arsene Wenger looks set to make his second signing of the summer. World Cup: It appears that the keeper impressed Wenger throughout this summers World Cup in Brazil, as he played a key role in helping Colombia reach the quarter-final of the competition. Before shipping two goals against the Brazilians, the Colombians only conceded two goals in their opening for fixtures in the tournament. It appears, then, that despite having tracked the Ligue 1 star for some time, his impressive World Cup convinced the Arsenal boss to press ahead with a move for the star. Options: And, if Arsenal are able to secure the services of the keeper, then he will act as competition to the Gunners current No.1 Wojciech Szczesny. Lukasz Fabianski left the Emirates for Swansea City earlier this summer, whilst Emiliano Viviano returned to Italy following his loan spell at the club. Szczesny, then, is currently the clubs only real option between the sticks, meaning the signing of a keeper is a priority for the Arsenal chief. It remains to be seen as to whether Ospina replaces Szczesny as the north London outfits main man, but its likely the two will battle it out for the spot throughout the 2014/15 campaign. Future: Arsenal fans will certainly be excited for the future, with Ospina set to become the clubs second major signing of the summer. The club completed a deal to bring forward Alexis Sanchez to the club last week, and Gunners fans will be hoping that at least a couple more players head to north London in the near future. Arsenal will be desperate to build upon their success from last season after the club finally ended their trophy drought. Arsenal beat Hull City at Wembley to win the FA Cup, but will now be targeting Premier League success last term after only managing to finish fourth last season.
