Arsenal dominated the ball and the shot count, but looked on - TopicsExpress

Arsenal dominated the ball and the shot count, but looked on course for another frustrating Saturday afternoon against Sean Dyches visiting Burnley, before a late flourish in the final 20 minute saw them return to the top four. While Arsene Wengers side dominated all the right stats, they appeared unable to make their superiority count in the one that actually matters - until the 70th minute. It was no surprise who popped up to save the managers blushes this week. Sanchez was once again the difference for the Gunners Burnley were unable to get near the ball for vast periods of play, managing less than 30 per cent of the possession in the opening 45 minutes. Arsenal were also more willing to shoot than in some previous games, but an organised Clarets defence kept them mostly to peppering Thomas Heatons goal from distance, managing to test the Clarets keeper on just four occasions in the first half. While Sean Dyches side were comfortable for the most part at the back, Marvin Sordell cut an isolated figure as lone striker for Burnley, with Danny Ings in behind him but forced to spend most of his time chasing down Arsenals midfield. The first clear-cut chances of the afternoon fell to Santi Cazorla, who shot from distance but failed to trouble the Burnley keeper and then should have done better in the 28th minute, when he received a pull back from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, but fired his volley just wide.
