Arsenal star says Spanish players are bored of Barcelona and Real Madrid dominance in La Liga Players are bored of duo’s stranglehold on La Liga, claims Santi Cazorla. Arsenal star Santi Cazorla says the influx of Spanish players to the Premier League is because of the monotony of Barcelona and Real Madrid’s dominance in La Liga. There are 31 Spanish nationals currently playing in the English top flight, with Roberto Soldado, Jesus Navas, Alvaro Negredo, Iago Aspas and Luis Alberto among a number of arrivals this summer. Cazorla, who joined the Gunners from Malaga last year, says the influx is because of the duopoly in Spain’s top flight. “Many players want to try their luck outside of Spain because it gets monotonous with just Barca and Real Madrid. “Outside of Spain there are more opportunities to win titles, in Spain, with the duopoly, there isn’t. In addition, there are economic problems the country is facing. “I don’t think La Liga has taken a step back, but it’s also true that great players like Negredo, Soldado, Navas, who are very important players in the league, have all left to the English Premier League and I think in that regard La Liga has lowered it’s quality.” #pickles
