A larger cultural ecology of labor interracialism promoted by San Francisco’s California Labor School and the Bay Area CIO over the 1940s allowed print artists like Giacomo Patri to create visual culture that was more affordable, accessible, inherently collaborative, and, above all, responsive to a multiracial working-class patronage and audience.
