Article by Jane Hamilton, grade IV on the topic of daily news: Balkan is the region in the Central-Eastern Europe that includes following countries: Bosnia, Serbia, Croatia, Macedonia, Albania, Romania, Bulgaria and Greece. My mom is from Balkans. Last summer I visited this beautiful place. I saw many rivers and mountains. I didn’t have time to see beautiful Adriatic Sea, but I am planning to do so this summer. The last week a horrible rain fell on the Balkans and created floods. The rivers Bosna, Vrbas and Sava got swollen and spilled out to the nearby cities. Several cities in Bosnia Serbia and Croatia were under the water for three days. Army evacuated people and animals. Unfortunately 100 people died in the floods. Many animals died too. Many volunteers from all over the Europe came to help. The trucks with food and toys were sent to the flooded area. Canada Red Cross has opened a relief fund for everyone who wishes to donate. In conclusion when a horrible tragedies happen people should help out. When people help people the world is a better place
