Arts Connect West Midlands has invested £10,000 in Brewhouse and Arts Development Service as part of their investment in 60 arts and cultural organisations across the region to enable organisations to develop inspiring new arts experiences for children and young people and help them attract new funding. The total investment across the region is £384,068. We have been awarded 2 grants of £5,000. One is for Research and Development Investment Programme and secondly for Arts Award Programme. Research and Development Investment Programme funding will be used to understand what cultural activity young people within Burton upon Trent are interested in. This will result in extending the Brewhouse Arts Centre workshop programme by offering a bigger range of activities for 0 to 19 years. Arts Award Programme funding will be used to create an Arts Award sessions for any young person engaged in our workshop programmes. Our current programme includes classes in dance, drama, music, film and visual arts. This Programme has the possibility of engaging with around 250 young people a year, who are regular attendees of our workshop provision. (artsaward.org.uk) Paul Challacombe – Arts Development Team Leader said: ‘This funding is really import to development our arts workshop programme and creating an offer that engages young people in cultural activity, is inclusive and gives accreditation for future employment’. Rob Elkington, Director of Arts Connect WM said: “We are delighted to be supporting so many innovative organisations that are full of ideas and ambition for their work with children and young people.
