As Christians, we really should understand how vital grace is, to our sanctification process. There seems to be a tremendous amount of confusion, regarding justification, sanctification, & glorification. Each go, hand in hand, but are (3) separate phases of life, & beyond. At the very instant a lost person repents of his sin, surrenders his life to Christ, & places full faith, in the saving power of Jesus of the Bible, he is instantaneously justified. Just as if he never sinned. That is how complete the blood of our Savior, clears the sin record. Sanctification is a lifelong process. For as long as the good Lord allows a redeemed person to remain alive, He will continually be working, from within, & without, to create a more Christ-like reflection, in us. It is not thru works we undertake, it is all attributable to the grace of Him, Who created us. Our part is to align our free will, to the will of God. Every other systematic religion says, do, Biblical Christianity says, done. Done by Jesus, His goodness deposited into our account; our earned wages, of sin & death, borne by Him, paid in full, crucified with Christ. Glorification, total victory over sin, will ONLY be attained, when we go to our eternal home, with Christ. Admission is not universal, sadly, many will hear their Maker say, Depart from me...I never knew you. Theyll wish to protest, pridefully ticking off works they did, in His name... Better to understand now, YOU cannot earn your way in, nothing you do/dont do, adds one ounce of value, nor removes one stain of sin. Though it may seem backward, this is a relief! Its not up to my goodness, Ive been undeservedly credited with His perfection. He bore the burden, I reap the reward. Mercy, grace, & love... There are those who claim to have overcome sin, fully, while still living. The Book of 1 John exposes this as falsehood. No created being has, or will ever, achieve immunity to temptation & sin, as long as they are part of the fallen creation. The very idea of claiming this achievement, is sinful, as pride in self underlies the claim. Every single one of us need to remember, we are by nature, sinful, & must continue to rely on Jesus. If it were possible for a created being to truly overcome sin, that would mean Jesus is not the only way, & that our goodness is intrinsic. Both of these thoughts are invalidated, over & over, in The Word. Additionally, consider this, if we were capable of meeting, or contributing, to Gods standard, Jesus death on the cross was unnecessary & ultimately, an act of cruelty. We must focus on Jesus, continually, to fully realize the boundless depths of mercy, grace & love, available to us, & of our desperate need for each, every moment, of every day. Jesus Christ is THE solution to EVERY problem this fallen world endures. Praise Him for His patience, as His creation persists in turning a deaf ear, & blind eye, to Truth. Today could be your worst nightmare, or finest hour, should you find yourself kneeling at His precious feet!
