As Christmas approaches I cant help but deeply miss my father. 7 years have passed since his departure and so many memories flow with how much of an impact this great man has put on me. 1. Dad as the father, Big deal b day parties, tall hand made sled hills with steps during the blizzard of 78. Museums and trips to exotic lands. Stern punishments for good reasons, forgiveness, hard working provider and my hero. 2 dad the historian, I was at Omaha beach under fire well before Steven Spielberg and saving private Ryan was released to the masses. Ive been to waterloo with Napoleon, battled with gladiators, conquered the Aztecs and was at thermopolye with the Spartans thanks to his stories. 3. Dad the forgiver. No matter how much I or others in his life messed up he still had room to forgive and a heart that never stopped loving those near him. 4, Dad the classy man. Coming from a modest upbringing we was worthy of the Sinatra era. Dressing up to go out, jacket and tie was a norm for him. dining at the best supper clubs nwi had to offer. Standing up to greet a lady approaching the dinner table. He was loved by everyone for his classy yet modest demeanor. always giving and never taking. 5, dad the comedian. Where do I start ? One stands out. My coming home party from the gulf war. I gave my dad an Arab head array from over there and a little later he appears in it and a sheet around him looking like Lawrence of Arabia bellowing out to a Jewish neighbor of ours..... Schwartz! Im coming for you Schwartz! A good and dear friend of his. The crowd howled! 6. Dad to his family, All family whether blood or thru marriages were his priority. His life and he was fiercely loyal and dedicated to all. Everyone was a brother, sister son or daughter to him. I miss you dearly dad. Your spirit is alive and well this holiday season. I will continue to live and share your legacy with all and look forward to the day we meet again as father and son in person.
