As Dallas In-Town Population Expected to Boom Steve Brown with the Dallas Morning News predicts that the population growth of the DFW area is only accelerating, and that within another six years by 2020 we will have gained an additional one million people, with our population topping 7.8 million. By the estimates from the North Texas Council of Governments, it is predicted that we surpass the Chicago Metro area in total metro population by about 2030. Brown further states that many of these new residents no longer want to live 30-miles out in the suburbs, and that the city of Dallas can expect seismic growth. Thousands of high-rises, urban-style apartments, condominiums and townhouses will be built over the next few years – no longer just Uptown, but East Dallas, Oak Cliff and Trinity Groves are poised for significant growth. Entire areas of the city will be redeveloped to house the new urban dwellers. - Dallas Morning News, May 15, 2014 (excerpts)
