As Darin LaHood, Republican senator of the 37th District, explained, planning for each day begins as soon as he receives the next day’s schedule. “It really starts with getting my schedule of what events I have on tomorrow and planning my day around that,” LaHood said. “What are going to be important bills in committee, who are the constituents from my district that are coming down to be here for the day, what are the issues that I need to focus on and to push, whether it’s a piece of legislation that I’m working on, whether it’s trying to work on a particular project in my district that needs funding, whether it’s a constituent issue, somebody who’s having a problem with a bridge or a road, or somebody needs a permit for a business.”
