As Halloween aproaches i wonder how many people know the true origin of the holiday. What we know as Halloween, and learn is the harvesting of the crops in school was something much different. Samhain as it was known was a Celtic festival that started at sundown on October 31st and lasted until sundown on November 1st. Samhain is when cattle were brought back from pasture and livestock was slaughtered to provide meat for the winter months. It is believed that during this time the door to the spirit world was open enough for the spirits of the dead as well as Demons to pass through freely. Villagers would even set a place at the table for the deceased for their big feast. Another ritual of Samhain was for people and cattle to walk between two bonfires to cleans himself from evil spirits before the feast. Samhain is now mostly celebrated by Neopagans and Wiccans. That is what makes Halloween so important to Paranormal investigators. Unfortunately not all investigators know why the holiday is so symbolic.
