As I drove to work on clear roads this morning, I couldnt help but smile at the snow covered world around me: Snow billowing off tree branches as little birds settle amidst pine needles; snow blanketing rooftops melting into icicles hanging from fascia boards; dead grass peeking out from under snowy footsteps leading off in mysterious directions. Having been raised in Georgia, snow is a rather rare occurrence, something mystical and worthy of attention. For some, it creates a panic spawning from the unknown. For others, myself included, it becomes an omen of good things to come. At the set of the new moon that started this year, I knew it would be a year of change. With January ending in a blanket of snow, I know that change will be welcome and wonderful. Today, I simply smile at the beauty of snow.
