As I listen to this song, I close my eyes and go back to a time where Mama would load us into my Daddys Deuce and a quarter (Buick Electric 225). Marilyn Dampeer would be in the front seat (she always had to be in charge!). Me, Poonte/TooSweet, and Byron would be in the back. We would go by Daddys job and he would give each of us a dollar and a pop. We would pray that Mama would stop at McDonalds before we hit the expressway to go out south to see my Aunt Am and Aunt Nonnie. Theo Bledsoe Lynn, MMsteve LaDonna Palmer Donna, Kevin, Brian/Toe. Dont let us get together. We would have a ball! Then on December 25th, Mama and Daddy would have to force us to go to bed. We would finally to go sleep for a short time, finally to wake up to see all things that Mama and Daddy gave to us. With the tears in my eyes, I think of those memories and smile, realizing how grateful I am and fortunate to think of the good times, even though some of my loved ones have gone on. Miss you Dad, Byron Uncle Gibb, Uncle Charles, Uncle Carl, Uncle Robert Glenn, Aunt Mamie, Aunt Minnie Lee, Aunt Velma, Aunt Rozina, Uncle Mac, Uncle Walt, Cousins Eva, Tadoh, Marshall and Aunt Evelyn (AM!). God is so good. In my opinion, Donnie Hathaways song is the best Holiday song. It touches your soul and makes you think of the good times.
