As I ponder over my life, and my journey since the knock came on my door, I see several changes ... one I see the denial that I was in about my sons death, not his long deployment. I see the individuals who attempted to reach out to me that I brushed off, if I am honest, I crushed into the ground... I see the individuals who no matter what I said or did were and are always there. I would like to say thanks to all. I am truly blessed. You all know who you are, and those that I stepped on and grinded into the floor boards of life, forgive me and all who are walking similar paths. Or as you all said to me get over it. I ask forgiveness but I also forgive you. Life is too short, yet too long for others. Cherish those we accept you, and get over those who do not. May you be able to lay your head down on a soft pillow in a heated home (not a house). It is a true home wherever your heart is. Even though I had never had the opportunity to have met many of our Rangers and/or veterans who have returned to civilian life, but not to a normal life. I walk with you. People call life after the death of your child the new normal. Bull crap! There is no new normal! There is the celebration of the life they lived, not the death. Do not be afraid to speak his/her name. They lived. As a parent, we want to hear their names spoken. Lord, you have led me many times but I have not listened. You have opened doors, I never even dreamt of entering. You have gently guided me when I thought I had nothing more to give. You have placed me in your path so many times when I just wanted to lay my head down. You have given me life! I read something tonight ... five more clicks to go. Continue to walk with all of us, because you see and know we only have five more clicks to go. I shared with someone tonight that I have the Rangers Creed taped to my bathroom mirror and the doors exiting my house. I do not know it by heart but do know that it was written from the heart. Holy Spirit, be with our loved ones no matter where they may be located. The call for freedom lands our Defenders of Freedom all around the world. Place a wall of protection around all. The journey has just begun. For those who have served, and are facing a dark cloud or a wall of what you may feel is ultimate destruction. Remember, you only have five more clicks to go....for those who do not understand that ... ask anyone who has served in the military. We all can do five more clicks to go. Good night.
